How To Start A Bead Business

Bead making is a lucrative business that needs lot of hard work, patience, creativity, planning and more. Since fashion now is the order of the day and by trying your hands on different designs you eventually come up with your own unique design. If you have any interest to start one, you are in the right place. Here, I will be giving you the few tips you will need to be a business woman.

·        Enroll for training: You can learn anything on Youtube this days; i will advise you to follow some bead professionals on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Pininterest etc. You can also approach any physical bead store where you can get to learn some basic steps of beads and accessories. From there, you continue on your own by being innovative and create your own unique designs.

·    Register your business: You can make enquiry about how those that have been in businesses for long register theirs so as to look more official and legit to your customers. You can get this done via CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) for as low as #15,000.

·    Build your Brand: As a business person, you need to create your niche by being specific about what you want to design and what services you would like to render to your clients. You can decide to build your brand by designing men’s bracelets, bride’s necklaces or any other service you could render. By doing this, you start by building your brands by getting a logo that speaks of what you want you are known for, you register and place your business on any social media platforms you are comfortable with so customers can easily identify, establish a good relationship with you and there by promoting your products which in turn boost your page and increase sales. There you post images of your bead and accessories in order to get buyers for your business.

·        Buy Quality Materials: This is very important as an entrepreneur, find a good local or bead store where you are certain that you can get quality bead materials. This will bring smile on the faces of your customers and will make them trust you completely. They would want to come back after buying from you or refer people to you. If you reside in Lagos, Nigeria you can purchase quality bead materials such as (Fishing line, beading thread, crimp beads, bead stopper, wire cutters, a tape measure, pins, clasps and different types of beads, of course, spacer beads, crimp cover, gold accessories, flat nose pliers) and so on at Eko Idumota. More importantly, you will need a bead design board to help you make the job much easier and organised.

·        Start Working: You can start making your designs and the beauty of bead making is that you can do it at the comfort of your home. Then after you are done designing, you can sell afterwards to your friends and families and get your cash at hand. So best rest assured, it is a beautiful work to do and you can either use it as a part time job where you add the income to your job or you take it as a full time job which pays where you are the boss of yourself. Make sure you calculate the process of your materials so as to be sure you just lose both the profit and the cost fee in order to be able to give a better and preferably price to your customers.

Values you should exhibit as a Business Person
·        Integrity: Let your ‘yes be yes’, and your ‘No be No’. Let your clients know that you stand by your word when it comes to making their designs and delivering at the right time.

·     Trust: Without this, you will be creating a bad impression on your client and not everyone has the ability to give another chance. For some, you lose the deal if you are unable to impress and trust them as the first chance.

·       Build Relationship: More often than not, you think I just need this client because of your products that you think you want to sell and after that, you cut off all communication. But as times are now, you learn to build quality relationship with your customers because one way or the other they may link you up and offer you something that might not even be in your line of business but will be of great benefit to you. They can also link any of your friends or families up if they are in the capacity to assist you. So, do not allow your business go into your head and you feel you have arrived and do not need anyone’s help. Be very careful…I am shouting now ooo…lol.

·   Humility: Don’t think you have arrived because you are now part of the first 10 business guru in your country. Be humble, let go of pride so you can see things better, know better and learn better.

·    Quality: Let your customers know you for who you are, let them that you  will use quality materials in making their designs. Even if it will cost them to pay more as long as you will give them the best. Your own customers will still patronise you regardless. Don’t worry. Smiles…

·    Humor: While relating with your customers via online platforms like chatting on whatsapp or fb, you need to have a sense of humor. You can use some ‘smileys’ on whatsapp while communicating, it shows you mean business and at the same time not rigid and full of live, do not act too serious. Come down from cloud nine and smile a little. I know you are  smiling now…lol. These and many more are the values you need to build as an individual and it’s not limited to this.

I hope you have learnt a lot from this post. Do not forget to comment at the end of this post or share to any of your friends that you feel they will love it. See you in my next article.
